Liberal Arts

The Liberal Arts Division provides a basic liberal education to all art majors at CCAD. Through core courses in art history, English, philosophy, and science—as well as related courses in business, math, music, and art therapy—the division's program pursues a triad of key learning goals for students in its coursework, mentoring, and academic counseling.

These three learning goals are the development of:

  1. professional communication skills
  2. critical thinking
  3. cultural awareness

Liberal Arts minors

The Liberal Arts Division currently offers three different minors in art history, art therapy, and writing. The coursework required for each of these minors is itemized on the LA minor requirement sheet, along with other key information. The LA minor sheet is handed out on major selection night, is available in the dean of Liberal Arts office (Dr. Ed Lathy, KH 205), or can be picked up in the Advising Office. These LA minors are not required but are an option for students who wish to focus on one of these three areas and have a minor noted, along with their major, on their official CCAD transcripts when they graduate.
