Counseling & Wellness Services

The mission of counseling services is to provide emotional and educational support to those students grappling with everything from adjusting to life’s difficult transitions to more severe and persistent mental illness. This support is provided through individual therapy, group therapy, assessment, on-campus workshops, and referrals to Central Ohio resources when more extensive services are warranted. Students are met with quality care in an accepting, confidential setting. Through the use of Counseling & Wellness Services, students receive support not only in assessing and treating mental health concerns, but also in fostering and promoting personal strengths and assets.

In addition to providing counseling services, the office of Counseling & Wellness Services also assists in overseeing campus outreach and education on various health and wellness topics such as stress management, sexual health and responsibility, nutrition, healthy relationships, the risks associated with problematic drug or alcohol use, and so on. This campus programming is carried out by a group of conscientious student leaders, called Campus Advisors (or CAs). Click here for more information.

Counseling Services Location & Hours

The Counseling Center is located in the One Stop Student Services area of the Crane Center, located at the intersection of Long St. and Cleveland Ave. (building 16 on campus maps). An initial counseling appointment (or “intake”) can be made by calling the Counseling Services at 614.222.4000 or the One Stop at 222.3295 during office hours (Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm). In most cases, students are able to get an appointment within a day or two of their request. Appointments are strongly preferred, though not required. Walk-in appointments can be accommodated at some times, though the availability of counseling staff varies. The Counseling Center is able to provide a limited number of evening appointments if the student is unable to schedule an appointment during usual office hours. Office hours may vary slightly when classes are not in session. Please call the One Stop for more specific information. Please note: If the college is closed due to inclement weather or a holiday, then the counseling center is also closed.

Before the First Appointment

All students requesting counseling services will be asked to complete a number of forms and a brief questionnaire about their concerns or symptoms. It is preferred, though certainly not required, that students thoroughly review and complete these forms prior to arriving for their first appointment. These are provided below as Acrobat PDF files:
