Campus Advisors ProgramThe mission of the Campus Advisors (or CAs) program is to provide CCAD students with a diverse group of healthy, approachable role models. CAs are students who have been selected because of their commitment to supporting college students in their pursuits of making healthy and responsible choices with respect to relationships, alcohol and other substance use, sexual health, managing academic pressures, and more. Students who commit to being a CA do so because they strive to cultivate and support the physical and emotional health and well-being of their peers through education and active listening skills. CAs are considered an integral part of the division of Student Affairs because of their role as peer educators and role models, and because of their position as liaisons between faculty/staff and the student body. Throughout the academic year, CAs accomplish their objective of promoting health and wellness by doing campus programming, including informational booths, guest speakers, health fairs, and fun contests on campus. CAs attempt to cover a wide range of topics in order to address the unique needs of CCAD students. In addition to campus programming, CAs actively participate in the Connectors Program, an initiative which links first-year students with a supportive and informative advanced student. CAs are also available to students who would like to chat with an empathic peer about their adjustment to college life, their choices related to drugs and alcohol, relationships, time management, or other health and wellness topics. CAs work closely with the Director of Counseling & Wellness Services, and are trained in determining when a peer could really benefit from meeting with a trained professional. CAs are trained and certified through an international association of college and university-based peer education programs focusing on student health, safety, and wellness.
