Advising
OverviewAcademic advisors are available to meet with students throughout the year to discuss academic plans, graduation requirements, different majors, and any issues or questions students may have regarding their classes. At least one advisor from each division is available to students, as are two general advisors. Advisors also assist in the registration process. CCAD students will be notified of when they may register for classes for the upcoming term by mail, CCAD email, and through fliers posted throughout the CCAD campus area. CCAD students registering for classes are required to meet with an advisor during their registration window to discuss their classes and academic goals. Students must make these appointments at the One Stop Student Services front desk. After a student meets with their advisor, they may submit a completed Registration Form to the One Stop Student Services front desk where it will be processed. PLEASE NOTE: It is strongly recommended that students use IQ Web prior to their advising appointment. On IQ Web, students can determine what classes they need and which sections are open. Students must then use this information to completely fill out the Registration Form before their advising appointment. Process1. Student views their Academic Plan on IQ Web to find out what classes they need in order to complete their degree. 2. Student refers to the suggested Three Year Course planning Guides to determine which particular classes would be best to take for the semester they are planning. 3. Student uses “Find Course Sections” on IQ Web to see what classes are open and when they are offered. NOTE: Students must check immediately prior to registration to see if the classes they want are still open. 4. Student completely fills out a Registration Form including course numbers and course section numbers (example: LA133.03) 5. Student returns completed Registration Form to the One Stop Student Services front desk in person during their scheduling window. Scheduling dates are emailed and mailed to students before the windows open. 6. If students have any questions concerning their courses, academic plans, or scholastic goals, they may make an appointment with their advisor at any time. Meet the advisorsThe CCAD faculty advisors are instructors who are among the most effective and diligent teachers on campus, and there is at least one faculty advisor for each major division of study. Advising appointments may be made at the One-Stop Student Services counter (on the first floor of the Loann Crane Center for Design).
